Hi all,

I’d be interested to learn how others are utilising MFA when access TOPdesk, as an operator and SSP.  I would like to know how the end user experience is/was, what types of MFA you are using and if there are any NHS colleagues on here, if you’ve managed to adopt the NHS connect shared tenant as the source of MFA so your users are logging in with their NHS.net accounts?

Thanks.

Hi,

By default, TOPdesk does not provide an MFA option for SSP and operator access. However, most organizations have implemented SSO nowadays. For example, if you have enabled SAML authentication with Microsoft Entra as the Identity Provider, you can create a conditional access policy that requires users to perform an MFA challenge. See Conditional access policies for individual apps | Microsoft Learn

If you are using AD FS, you can achieve this by setting up an integration with Azure MFA. See Configure AD FS and Microsoft Entra multifactor authentication | Microsoft Learn

As far as I can see, NHS is using an Azure tenant with the Microsoft MFA app (NHSmail Single Sign On Request Form – NHSmail Support). Therefore, my recommendation is to connect TOPdesk to Entra ID (Configure Single Sign-On (SAML) with Microsoft Entra ID - My TOPdesk SSP) for SSO and configure a conditional access policy.
