👻 Horror Stories from the Helpdesk

Every service desk has one: the ticket that still sends a chill down your spine. The mouse pointer that was "possessed" (sticky Shift key, case closed). The keyboard that suddenly started typing in a foreign language (someone pressed Alt+Shift by accident). The monitor that kept "switching itself off" (a knee bumping the power strip under the desk).

You know the one. You still tell it at drinks. Now it's time to tell it here.

How it works

Reply to this thread with your strangest, funniest or most chaotic support story before 22 October. After that, we'll pick our favourites and give them the spotlight they deserve, just in time for Halloween.

Rather stay in the shadows? Send your story to topdeskcommunity@topdesk.com and we'll post it for you, no name attached.

I'll go first

I don't work on a service desk, but communities have their own ghosts. I once helped manage a TOPdesk  WhatsApp Community (owned by a customer), and one day the spam started rolling in. The same message, with the same scam link, popped up in every single sub-channel, one after the other. The faster I deleted/reported them, the faster new ones seemed to appear. It felt less like moderating and more like a game of whack-a-mole I was losing.

Your turn. Which ticket still haunts you?
