What departments and teams are using TOPdesk at your organisation?

Hello everyone,

I am Niels from the TOPdesk Product Management Team. I am doing research into which use-cases are all covered by TOPdesk. Within the ESM space we tend to talk a lot about IT, facilities and HR but I know many of you have onboarded a lot of other teams as well.

My question is, which other teams or departments did you onboard in TOPdesk as well? And how did you go about it? Was it a need for those teams or was it introduced to them?

Thanks for your help and I hope I see you today during one of the webinars :)

Thanks everyone for your responses. It is very impressive to see the wide range of applications TOPdesk is being used for!

Do you notice any differences in the usage within these departments?

@NielsUiterwaal  would love to hear from you if you notice any difference in the usage within these departments. Can you perhaps shed some light on that?

We have had TOPdesk for a while now, maybe 8-9 years. We did a lot of work at the beginning promoting it and onboarding other teams and services, so the take up was very good.

I think recently, in the last 12-18 months, a couple of the teams have started moving towards systems that are more specific to their area. For example, our Estates/Maintenance team were fully on TOPdesk, but they have since moved to a platform specifically designed for building management and maintenance.

Our Finance team are currently in transition to another system too, again one geared more towards Finance departments.

Its frustrating for users as they have to navigate a separate system

IT Services use TOPdesk the most - we’re currently implementing the Change Management module, and we also use the Call, Problem, Asset, Property, Knowledge, and Action management modules.

Other teams mostly use the Call Management module, as well as the Knowledge Management if we’ve provided training to them and are sure they’re happy to create their own knowledge articles. Most teams also use TOPdesk for selections and reports where necessary and relevant, such as our Finance and Student Wellbeing departments.

There are quite a few different systems being used in our institution, which can get quite frustrating for users as Azim said, so we’ve been trying to bring as many teams as possible onto TOPdesk with relative success. Some departments such as Estates are hard to convince as they use a system specifically designed for Building management with some features lacking in TOPdesk.

We are experiencing the same here at our company.
