Hello Community,

Quick question, I notice there is a possibility to import assets and link services under the Assert Overview module, is this module the equivalent of the CMDB in TOPdesk? or you have it under a total different solution?

Thank you!

It is!
The Asset Management module is primarily used as CMDB, but can also be used to create Asset Templates for other solutions you would like to use this for.
For example, you could create an asset for contracts as well, keep track of their duration, contacts, length, supplier, etc. Basically anything you want to register and keep track of specific data.
Because you can create and modify templates and fields on the template yourself the module can really offer some out of the box solutions.

Primarily it is used as CMDB though!

Hi again Joost, so in TD it’s like both the technical and financial aspect of CIs are reffered in one module under “Asset Temp”, what about auto discovery/service mapping cases? how would you deal with the population of CIs and business services in large scale/asset entreprises?

Yes, both are registered on the same template. Auto discovery is usually possible through different applications, an import can provide the data to TOPdesk, so you can populate the fields by import, where mapping is also provided. If necessary, API can also be used here for the same purposes.
I think most companies make use of the asset import functionality when working with different applications where assets are registered/discovered.
There's an add-on available for Intune that you can request via your TOPdesk account manager as well!
