One of the things we hear most often from community members is that a language barrier sometimes gets in the way of getting the most out of this space. You've told us this in feedback, in conversations, and in the posts you write. We listened.

Starting today, all content in the TOPdesk Community, posts, product updates, discussions, can be translated directly in the platform. You'll find a Translate option at the top of every post. Click it, choose your language, and the content translates automatically. Comments work the same way: you'll find a translate option right below each reply.

Currently, content can be translated into the following languages:
Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Hungarian, Norwegian, Portuguese, and Swedish.

Missing your language? Let us know at TOPdeskCommunity@topdesk.com and we'll take it into consideration as we continue to develop this feature.

This is a step we're genuinely proud of, because it means more of you can learn from each other regardless of the language you work in every day.

That said: we want to be upfront. This is a work in progress. We'll be improving the experience over the coming months, and your input will help shape where we go next.

So we'd love to hear from you:

  • Have you tried it yet? How did it work for you?
  • Did it help you find something useful you might have skipped before?
  • Is there anything that could work better?

Share your experience in the comments. It genuinely helps us and it helps us make the case for where to invest next.

The built in translation is a welcome addition, many thanks!

It would be great if there was a way to translate all entries on a post to a chosen language, rather than having to translate each post/reply separately.
This would also resolve the issue of replies to posts only translating the reply and not the quoted post.
EDIT: Just realised that this is already an option if using Translate All from the initial post:

Or even better an option to set your preferred language in your profile and have all community content automatically translated to that.

Some hopefully helpful feedback about the TOPdesk Community monthly email update which noted that non-English posts will be linked in the email:

Personally, I’d prefer to have all the email content in my preferred language - I’m unlikely to follow a link to a post when I don’t know what it’s about. It’s nice to know that any link presented to me in English will be easily translatable if when I open it I find its been authored in another language.
Whether it’s possible for you to make the email content localised for each recipients preferred language I don’t know...

@Glenn  I like the way you are thinking and in an ideal world I would be able to set that up. But currently that is unfortunately not possible
So for now you will keep getting either a Dutch or English email based on your language preference you set up in your profile.
But I will take your feedback into account in regards to the content of the email. All though I have already seen a few local answers to Dutch posts…

For now I am happy to offer the option to have the translation in place. I will ask our tool supplier of there is something with can do with the AI translation and prefered language as in always showing it in that language already.
But that might also just be a long shot.

Just know that this is something I keep monitoring and if/where we can improve I will see what I can do.
